To make it easy for users to understand both whole concepts and specific features
To sync the IA and card sorting for Mobile and Dash
Assumptions and Hypothesis
People wants to know more about their plants. If they get information about their plants they will have more confidence that their plants will stay healthy and beautiful. f their plants are healthy and beautiful then they won’t be afraid to buy and invest in them.
Plant-based businesses desire advanced plant care solutions to enhance their growth, prevent mass plant diseases, and create better ways to reach customers.
The need for ecology is increasing globally, and even without specific efforts, people are becoming more aware of this problem. It is even fair to say that legal frameworks and legislation are moving towards stimulating and subsidizing the growth of ecology, botany, and greenery. As public and international organizations promote plant care, those who start early and take proper care of their plants will have an advantage in the future.
Individuals who desire a personal oasis but lack the time to maintain it are willing to pay for advanced tech service solutions to achieve their dream. Custom-made green spaces are in high demand.
Many time people say “I can’t wait that much for that plant to grow to be big enough” If they have service or solution to provide them with information about plant growth, especially with special optimized care, they might would invest in some plants.
More people are starting their own vegetable gardens as they lose trust in mass-produced food by the industry. So they would be willing to plant a pair of tomatoes and some spice on the terrace.
People love discussing plants and sharing tips and advice. With social media, people even compete with their gardens.
Pot selection and buying can be stressful and expensive. Individuals want to see a visual simulation of how specific pots would look in their home/space with a particular plant. They don’t want to stuck with a pot that’s not perfect fit for their plant and space. And they paid it a lot it.
When people are in search of a new plant for their home, they often become overwhelmed. Hick's law issue…there are too many options to choose from when exploring plant shops. They would appreciate it if a service could automatically suggest plants based on specific parameters and filters. It would be even better if this service could study and learn about their needs, preferences, and sensibilities to provide more personalized recommendations.
Design Process
Understanding phase
My deep passion for plants and gardening, combined with extensive research and hands-on experiences, played a pivotal role. I visited numerous plant nurseries, other than observing I engaged in conversations with industry professionals and potential users, to gain practical insights into their needs, challenges, and aspirations. To fully understand the domain, I conducted thorough research, including competitive analysis and market research. This knowledge laid a strong foundation for the development of EdenAI.
Following UX methodology, I conducted qualitative and quantitative research, such as surveys, interviews, and observations, to gain deep insights into the pain points and desires of users and customers.
By combining these insights with my own experiences and the expertise of the plant and gardening community, I shaped a user-centered platform that offers cutting-edge features. Through an iterative and comprehensive research process, I built a solid understanding of the market, users, and customers, establishing the groundwork for designing and developing a truly impactful solution.
User and Customer Research
During the user and customer research phase, I employed a multi-faceted approach that recognized the diverse needs, preferences, and possibilities of potential EdenAI users and customers. To account for the fact that some individuals have limited gardening space or view plants as a hobby, while others run plant nurseries for a living or seek to enhance their business environment, I tailored surveys to four distinct user personas:
recreational botanists living in houses
those living in apartments
plant nursery businesses
business owners.
To ensure a comprehensive understanding, I employed both qualitative and quantitative research methods. I conducted in-person interviews and engaged in extensive discussions with individuals close to me who share a strong interest in plants and gardening. Additionally, I reached out to other enthusiasts and professionals to delve into their unique perspectives and experiences. This thorough research allowed me to design EdenAI as a unified platform that caters to both B2B and B2C needs, fostering a community where all plant enthusiasts, whether homeowners, business owners, or nurseries, can connect and benefit from innovative gardening solutions.

Plants
The essence and core of this SaaS service/product revolves around plants themselves. This service allows users and customers to access, research, explore, organize, and monitor plant data, enabling them to perfectly arrange, plan, optimize, and, above all, enjoy their greenspace. To comprehensively systematize plant data, it is necessary to have information on each plant as a distinct instance, classified by its specific plant type.
It is important to clearly distinguish between the plant data type and the plant ID itself, which is an instance of a certain plant data type. For example, the fern is a type of plant (i.e. a plant type) that represents all individual ferns, including the one that you have long kept in your home. That individual is an instance or individual of the fern data type, which is a type of plant and represents one "Plant ID".
Two different types of data:
Plant Type
Plant ID
Here are some important notes:
Plant ID is an instance of Plant Type and inherits some of its properties.
An instance of a class (Plant Type), such as Plant ID, should inherit certain properties of that class. However, the user has the option to unset or overwrite some properties.
Plant Type
Al users can view database for plants, with all plant types and their characterictics. Only few type of users can update that database. Although we believe that our database covers almost all plants that most users could wish, we have left the opportunity for the most specific cases.
This is some plant type's properties, within categories:
